Mercer Island High School Boys Win Distance Medley Relay at Oregon Relays 2025

On April 5, 2025, at the Oregon Relays held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, the Mercer Island High School boys’ Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team delivered an outstanding performance, securing first place in their event. The team, consisting of Owen Powell, Matthew Lawrence, Alex Dusseau, and Matthew Greer, showcased exceptional teamwork and athleticism to achieve this victory. They completed the race in 10:04.01, the fourth-fastest DMR time recorded in the nation during this outdoor track season.

The DMR comprises four legs of varying distances: 1,200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, and 1,600 meters. The race began with Matthew Lawrence taking on the 1,200-meter leg, followed by Alex Dusseau running the 400 meters. Matthew Greer then completed the 800-meter segment, setting the stage for anchor runner Owen Powell. Powell delivered a remarkable performance in the final 1,600-meter leg, completing it in an impressive time of 3:58. This victory adds to Mercer Island High School’s history of success at the Oregon Relays.
